Q & A
Is there any radiation or toxic emissions associated with photovoltaic power?
Photovoltaic power generation is free of harmful radiation and emissions. Batteries and other associated equipment will produce heat and noise but within controllable range. Photovoltaic power generation systems do not produce electromagnetic radiation or interference at a level considerably different to other domestic electronic appliances.
How easy is it to maintain?
Under general conditions with occasional rainwater the panels will clean themselves, no special maintenance is required, if dust and dirt adheres to the panels a simple rinse with clean water and wiping with a cloth is sufficient. Other electrical equipment generally does not require maintenance, only regular checkups from specialist personnel.
Can solar panels be stepped on while cleaning?
Solar panels are load-bearing to a certain extent, but cannot be trodden or climbed on, which will cause sub-visible damage that affects the performance and lifetime of the component.
Will shadows, leaves or bird droppings have an impact on the power generation system?
MPPT systems will reduce the effects of shaded or obscured panels on the whole system but it is best practice to site the panels away from shaded areas, trim nearby trees and regularly clean the panels of debris.
What is the storm resistance?
System is designed with Wind Resistance for up to typhoon signal No. 10.
Can it generate electricity in rainy weather?
There will be some power generation, but the performance will be diminished. The electricity generation during a cloudy or rainy day is only about 20~30% of a sunny day.
Will installing a photovoltaic system damage the roof and cause leaks?
No, with the bracket or self-weighted mounting method, the roof structure will not be penetrated. Installing a photovoltaic system will not only damage the roof, but also cool the roof and save the use of air conditioning in summer16%.
Are there cooling benefits to installing a rooftop system?
Yes, according to researchers, rooftop mounted solar panels reduce heat energy reaching the roof surface by about 38%, which means that the roof temperature can be lowered by 3~6 oC.
Are there risks from lighting strike?
Included lightning strike safety measures will fully protect the system.
What is the expected operating lifetime of the system?
The system is designed for 25 years of service without efficiency degrading below 80% of its original. Similar systems have been operated around the world for 30 years.
